It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it was a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
