This Dramatic Portrait
In the struggle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for Mammon in Showalter's delightfully tacky film adaptation regarding the shamed religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Andrew Garfield portrays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims initially, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals commence capitalizing on the people's spiritual convictions. It's a riot of poor styling, overdone appearance and bad faith, yet Chastain achieves to present the character in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, late night, Film4
